East Shore - About Us

East Shore Child Development Center is located on 16 Dixon Street, with entrance on Kings Highway, in the Woodmont section of Milford, just miles from the West Haven line. We have been in successful operation since 1978 and Nationally Accredited by NAEYC.

East Shore is State Licensed to accommodate 40 preschool children, ages 3 to 5 years old. Each of the two classrooms can accommodate 20 children, placed by age and ability whenever possible, with 3 teachers per room. We offer sliding scale, full fee and School Readiness spots (when available) and accept Care 4 Kids (a childcare assistance program).

East Shore’s facility consists of two spacious air conditioned classrooms, a gymnasium, large fenced in outdoor area with swings, jungle gym, sand box, tricycles and plenty of grass area to run as well as a volunteer public library available for our use, located upstairs. We have a full kitchen where nutritious, well balanced meals are prepared. Morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack are provided daily.

East Shore’s staff consists of seven full time teachers and 2 part time teachers all of whom have been with the center for 5 years or more. All Teachers are trained in First Aid, CPR, and administration of the Epi pen and nebulizer and continually participate in educational training. Three teachers are assigned to each classroom with one floating teacher. Two of our teachers are fluent in Spanish and one is competent in sign language. All are available to help with translations when needed.

East Shore’s location in a quiet, residential area of Milford makes taking walks with the children a safe and pleasant experience.
